I started working with children between the age of 5 till 10 years old , for around 3 years . I was proposed to work with a children with down syndrome who needed help with every day life gesture (putting his shoes on , going to the toilet , washing his hands , eating etc ) . Since i was working in a school in France , every two months , there was seasonal holidays , i took the time to work with people with disabilities , physical or mental disabilities , going with them on holidays , taking care and help for every day life gesture . I lived in Malta for 2 years and a half , working in an association with people with disabilities , adults with physical disabilities (on wheelchairs) , they needed help for changing , washing , eating , drinking , physiotherapy . I lived in Denmark for 2 years , working with young adults with autism and difficult background .

Taking care of the elderly has been a very rewarding experience for me. I am blessed to be able to work with loving families who care for their needy member. For almost 5 years, I have accumulated experiences that enhanced my skills with dealing with the elderly, at the same time enriching my life. I have cared for clients with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, cancer, depression, COPD. I have been a Companion/Sitter for the last 2 1/2 years. I provided ADLs, medical reminders, meal preparation, transportation to doctor's appointment, errands to store, beauty/barber shop, dry cleaners, gym and has engaged my clients to social interaction like dining out, movies, visit to museums, attending musical recitals and concerts and playing word/board/card games at home. I take care of my clients like family because at the end of the day, we are just one family.

Hello, I am Yetunde. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I come from a large family where it is my responsibility to take care of the old grandmas, grandpas and aunts as the first female daughter. This actually aroused my interest in going into medical line and taking courses in health care while in school. I am used to seeing old people who needs help doing one thing or the other and helping out people in rehab and post surgery who needs help and this has helped me to know how to listen to them, follow their doctor's drug prescription and instructions, learn to be patient with them and keep a happy and positive attitude around my charges. Special needs patients need more care and attention, and that is what iv been providing to my patients all these years. I have experience with autistic patients, behavioral patients, down syndrome, and many more. What makes my clients more happy with me is my patience. I listen, pay attention and give my best to my clients . Iv also worked in a "group home" caring for different clients at the same time . I took care of my father for the last three years of his life. He had vascular dementia as well as major heart issues. It was just the two of us, and although it was challenging, it was also the greatest blessing of my life! Now, I know I won't have the previous history that I had with my dad, but I learned the indignities the elder endure(Drs talking to the caregiver as opposed to them) etc. I believe the ideal situation for all of us, would be an older couple or single that just needs someone on the property with their best interests at heart. Someone who is a good cook(if needed) a good and enthusiastic gardener. Someone who accompanies people to their drs appointments and keeps good notes, as well as translates for the patient! Someone who genuinely likes and respects older folks. I feel that if the situation is proposed as mutually beneficial to all involved - a true win win!
